Triple Threat: Latino, Gay and A Writer! : Saturday, June 24th - Latino Lens Space

Jorge was born in Guadalajara (Mexico) and lived there and Chicago before his family settled in Stockton, California, where he grew up. Raised Mormon, Jorge knew he could not be his true self and became quiet and shy as a result. He escaped his reality by immersing himself in the different worlds he found in TV shows and movies. He was never challenged academically until his junior year of high school when his English teacher put him in Honors English where he fell in love with writing. Jorge earned a scholarship to University of the Pacific (in Stockton) where he triple majored in Spanish, English, and Film Studies and studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Afterwards, Jorge applied and was accepted to film school at USC School of Cinematic Arts where he earned his MFA in Film Production. In 2015, Jorge completed the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s TV Writers Program that is sponsored by NBC and ABC. The pilot he wrote in the program, HEART OF DECEIT, got him staffed on the NBC spinoff, THE BLACKLIST: REDEMPTION.
